Emerald Cut Engagement Rings Galore
We know finding the right ring for yourself or your partner can be a daunting task, but we're here to help! If the design you're looking for embodies traditional outlines and understated elegance then look no further. Emerald cut engagement rings offer a timeless charm that transcends trend. With the cut dating as far back as the 1500's, it is easy to see why the style has such staying power. Let's talk about what an emerald cut really is, and along the way, share some of our Bario Neal favorites.

What Is An Emerald Cut?
Developed in the 1500's by stone cutters looking to minimize pressure and subsequent cracking of gemstones during the cutting process, the emerald cut was, as you can imagine, first used for emeralds. The style gained popularity during the 1920's in the Art Deco period, which has been known for motifs that echo the geometric quality of the emerald cut.

Recognized for its "hall of mirrors" effect, the emerald cut achieves this eye-catching look by alternating facet lines of light and shadow. This is accomplished by step cuts, straight cuts parallel to the stone's outer edge, which are clearly visible through the stone's large surface. These step cut facets appear throughout the upper and lower portions of the stone, catching light in a sleek rectilinear pattern. The emerald cut also features beveled corners meant to reinforce the strength and durability of the gemstone.
