Not all gemstone sourcing creates equal impact. We work exclusively with suppliers committed to environmental stewardship and fair labor practices—the same values that have guided Bario Neal since 2008. Our custom gemstones come from small-scale artisanal miners, recycled sources, or U.S.-made lab-grown options that carry zero extraction footprint.

When you choose loose gemstones from our collection, you’re selecting stones with transparent supply chains and traceable origins. Many come from vendors affiliated with ethical gemstone initiatives that ensure mine-to-market accountability. Others are reclaimed stones—gems that entered circulation decades ago and require no new mining. Still others are lab-created, offering identical physical and optical properties to mined gems with dramatically reduced environmental impact.

Sapphires offer a remarkable color range beyond traditional blue—think peachy pinks, verdant greens, golden yellows, and purple-tinged parti-colors. Durable (9 on Mohs scale) and available in both mined and lab-grown versions, sapphires work beautifully as center stones in solitaire engagement rings or as accents in cluster rings.

Emeralds bring rich green intensity with characteristic inclusions called “jardin” (French for garden). We source Colombian, Zambian, and Ethiopian emeralds, plus lab-grown options. Their relative softness (7.5-8 Mohs) makes protective settings important for engagement rings and everyday pieces.

Diamonds remain endlessly versatile. Our collection includes traditional white brilliants, salt-and-pepper diamonds with dramatic inclusions, champagne and cognac tones, and true black diamonds. All conflict-free—either recycled, Canadian-mined with ethical certification, or U.S.-made lab-grown with 100% climate-neutral production.

Tourmalines showcase nature’s color palette, from watermelon bi-colors to electric blue-greens and deep raspberry pinks. Their 7-7.5 Mohs hardness suits most jewelry applications, and their prismatic clarity creates distinctive light play.
