Comparing Carat Weight Across Various Diamond Shapes and Cuts

Bario Neal offers a variety of different diamond cuts and shapes, allowing you to best customize your ring to perfectly fit your needs. With so many different shapes to consider, it's important to recognize how different carat weights will appear, especially when some cuts will appear smaller or larger despite being technically the same weight.

If you know what sort of carat weight you’re looking for— whether it’s a matter of budgeting, or just knowing roughly how big you want your diamond to be— the next step is to consider how that carat will translate across different cuts. Because each diamond cut carries its weight differently, certain cuts will appear smaller despite being the same weight as their bolder counterparts. We’ll use a 2 carat diamond across varying cuts to show you how this works!

With certain cuts of diamonds which are longer— look at the difference between the pear or marquise diamond cuts in comparison to the more square asscher— and others which are denser, the millimeter difference varies considerably from cut to cut, despite being the same carat weight. Carat weight is an objective unit of measurement, which means that it can be universally applied, but won’t necessarily present the same.

This is true both in the sense of cut and quality, where some diamond providers might offer larger diamonds that don’t deliver greater clarity or luster. However, with ethically sourced and sustainable diamonds, and traceability from maker to market, to your custom ring, Bario Neal guarantees that you don’t have to worry about quality when customizing your ring, just quantity! So, whether you’re looking for a larger, 2 carat diamond, or a more modest .75, you can worry less about the quality of your diamond, and more about making sure that your custom design is perfect for whatever your occasion.

While carat weight might be an important part of finding out what ring will best fit your budget, it won’t be the only factor in determining what kind of ring you’re looking for. With knowledge of what size and shape you want for your design, it can be much easier to determine what carat weight you should opt for to match your style preferences. And without having to worry about quality, Bario Neal’s guide to diamond cuts and carat weights makes it easy for you to pick the perfect diamond size for your custom ring. We also offer in-store and online consultation, so that one of our sales associates can guide you through the process, guaranteeing that you find the perfect diamond in the perfect size.
