Band Size Comparison for Round Wedding Bands

Whether you’re gearing up for your first ring purchase, or you’ve already got your mind set on a setting, diamond, diamond shape, etc., one of the first decisions you will have to make is, “What kind of band do I want?” Be it for a wedding or any occasion, making decisions about the shape and width of your band can be, in many ways, just as important as the other, flashier elements of ring design.

Our Milla Band, which is perhaps our most popular band option, comes in both a round and a square shape. Our round band, which offers a more classic look, comes in a variety of widths, and that variation in width affects not only the size of the band, but its look/presentation.

You can see the stark difference between these two widths— with only a four millimeters variance— this difference in widths will affect both the cost and the appearance of your band, and is something to be mindful of as you go through the process of customizing your ring!

The thinner band offers a more delicate, subtle look, whereas the 3mm is more prominent, and when choosing your band— and especially considering who it’s for and what the occasion is— there is a notable style difference between even a one millimeter measurement. Our round bands come in a variation of widths, between one and six millimeters, and with that variation in width comes a difference in both cost and style.

Band-width affects both the style and fit, and so looking at the above comparison, you can see how the one or two millimeter round bands are considerably more delicate in appearance than the five or six millimeter. With the desire to find a style that is both comfortable and best suited for the occasion— this might also mean finding a band width that works in continuity with your engagement ring, or just one that fits your stylistic preferences— width is always an important factor to take into consideration. Keeping that in mind, our bands will also fit differently depending on their width, with narrow bands fitting true to standard ring sizing and wider bands taking up more surface area on the finger— in turn having a tighter fit. In general, we recommend sizing up, about a quarter of a size, with wider band options.

It’s also important to consider that because all of Bario-Neal’s rings are hand-finished, the width might vary slightly from piece to piece. Our customization process means that, even with the simplest, most classic designs, such as our round bands, your ring will be authentically yours. For more about our band offerings and personalizations, you can view our wedding bands here!
